Hi everyone…I am Nazila Alasti, the founder and CEO of Jooners and excited to be blogging!
Here is a little bit about me. I live in Stanford, California with my husband and two daughters, aged 14 and 12. I started Jooners four years ago and have built it with the support of an amazing group of colleagues as well as our wonderful and growing community of Jooners’ members.
I love well-designed products (worked for Apple), contemporary art (volunteered as a docent at SFMOMA) and pretty much any kind of music. I am inspired by dignity, generosity and graceful people. And aside from building Jooners, my husband and I are also in the midst of designing and building a new home. A project that keeps us sane and insane at the same time.
Many people ask me about our name: Jooners. What does it mean and why did we choose it?
Joon means “dear”, in Farsi (aka Persian). Early on, our team started calling each other by our names and adding Joon to it. Beth Joon, Cindy Joon, Marci Joon, Ashit Joon… So we became Jooners! Jooners are your dear-ones, the ones that you hang out with and the ones that you coordinate and collaborate with. The ones that help you in your time of need and the ones that you have fun with.
Here are some of the “Joons” in my work life:
Aine – Aine is our product manager. She passionately advocates and designs for our members. If you have been to any of our webinars, you have heard Aine.
Tayyab -Tayyab is our technical guru. In his spare time, Tayyab works on his Masters in Computer Science at Stanford.
Kee – Kee’s diligent efforts create our new features and his focused attention gets rid of the bugs as quickly as they appear.
Sandy – Sandy is our help desk phenom. If you write to help@jooners.com, you will get to see just how wonderful Sandy is in full action.
So…..who are the “Joons” in your life?
Write and tell us what makes them a Joon for you.
